Visit Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Go inside George Washington’s beloved home on the Potomac River. Have dinner in an authentic colonial tavern in 18th-century Virginia. Tour Washington, DC with an expert guide for an insider’s view of the nation’s capital. Day 1 – Arrive Philadelphia Tour begins: 5:00 PM at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. Welcome to Philadelphia, your first stop on America’s historic “road to independence.” A transfer is included from Philadelphia International Airport to the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, set in a perfect location in the heart of the city on Logan Square. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner this evening. Meals D Day 2 – Step back in time on a tour of city sights Explore the “City of Brotherly Love” on a guided sightseeing tour that begins at Independence National Historic Park. You’ll learn a lot about Benjamin Franklin’s Philadelphia on a walk through Independence Hall, the place where delegates from the original 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence and where the U.S. Constitution was adopted. See the 2,000-pound Liberty Bell, in its new home at Liberty Bell Center, and take a ride aboard a horse-drawn carriage to the 250-year-old Betsy Ross House. You’ll also visit the National Constitution Center and see Freedom Rising, a multimedia production that tells the story of the U.S. Constitution. Travel through Pennsylvania farmland to Gettysburg for a memorable visit to Gettysburg National Military Park. Experience poignant reminders of the Civil War as you tour the park with a guide who shares insights about some of the most important conflicts – the Civil War comes to life when you see where 70,000 men of the Confederate Army faced 93,000 Union soldiers for three days in July of 1863.
