Welcome to San Francisco! After being whisked from the airport tothe hotel at Fisherman''s Wharf, meet your Tour Director thisafternoon. Time permitting, explore Pier 39. An easy stroll away,you''ll get a real San Francisco treat as you drink in theatmosphere of this lively marketplace and watch street performersget oohs, aahs, laughter and cheers from the crowd. Also competingfor your attention is the pier''s resident sea lion population,known as the "Sea Lebrities." Day 2 - San Francisco - Richardson Grove State Park - Garberville
What better way to get a taste of San Francisco than by crossingthe Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most recognizable landmarks inthe world! If you and the family are up for a walk, grab yourcameras and join your Tour Director for a stroll across thisimpressive feat of engineering. Learn how the bridge was built, whobuilt it, and why it''s not painted gold - despite its name! Then,travel through the rolling hills of California''s Wine Country andstop at Richardson Grove State Park for your first encounter withthe giants of the forest, the mighty redwoods. Day 3 - Garberville - Redwood National Park - Gold Beach
Get in touch with your inner-conservationist as you travel alongthe "Avenue of the Giants," one of America''s most spectacular roadsand best display of giant California redwoods. Step back in time inEureka, a quaint 19th-century Victorian town built during theheight of the region''s logging boom. Here, our Tour Director willreveal a Hidden Treasure. Next, drive through Northern CaliforniaRedwood National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with trees morethan 1,000 years old and over 300 feet tall. Anticipation mounts asyou cross into Oregon and step aboard a high-speed jet boat for athrilling ride on the Rogue River. This Congress-designated"National Wild and Scenic River" tumbles and roars from high in theCascade Range to the shores of the Pacific and is home to tons ofnative wildlife. Day 4 - Gold Beach - Oregon Dunes - Newport (2 nights)
Gear up for the trip to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, anatural wonder of endless shifting sand, unique tree islands andlots of interesting creatures. Hop in a dune buggy for anexhilarating ride up and down these expansive tracts of sand. Thenstop at Heceta Head, a beautiful 19th-century lighthouse that castsits beam some 21 miles out to sea, before continuing north to thebayside town of Newport. This evening join the gang on the beachfor a good ol'' fashioned clam bake with all the fixin''s. Thengather ''round a beach bonfire for gooey s''mores and entertainingcampfire tales. Day 5 - Newport sightseeing & at leisure
Kick off your shoes, roll up your pants and wade in the YaquinaHeads tide pools for a captivating search for hermit crabs, seaurchins, anemones, sea stars, and even the occasional octopus! Yournext look at sea life is even cooler, because you''re headed to theOregon Coast Aquarium - named one of America''s "Most AwesomeAquariums" by Forbes magazine. Come face-to-face with sharks andbat rays in "Passages of the Deep" - an acrylic walk-through tunnelsurrounded by water. With your leisure time this afternoon, maybeexplore Newport''s historic waterfront or join an optional Sea LifeCruise; keep an eye out for sea life and marine birds as theonboard naturalist tells you all about your surroundings. Day 6 - Newport - Tillamook - Portland
Better get moo-ving, because you''re traveling to Tillamook, a citysynonymous with the dairy industry. Get the scoop on dairy productsduring a tour of the Tillamook Creamery and learn about dairy cows.Then you''ll be treated to a fresh waffle cone filled high with yourchoice of 35 delicious flavors of Tillamook Ice Cream. Day 7 - Portland - Olympic National Park
Today you''ll visit the award-winning Mount St. Helens VisitorsCenter, dedicated to the active Ring-of-Fire volcano that eruptedon May 18, 1980. Learn about the legendary blast - an eruption socolossal that it spewed ash into 11 states - as you watch areenactment of the event and experience interactive exhibits suchas a step-in volcano model and working seismograph. After being"blown away" by Mount St. Helens, venture west to the rugged coastof Olympic National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site andInternational Biosphere Reserve, the park contains no fewer thanthree distinct ecosystems. Enter the beautiful Hoh Rainforest, oneof the world''s few (as well as the largest) temperate rainforests,and trek to the eerie "Hall of Mosses" with trees and branchesdripping with moss. 9 or more: If 9 or more people travel together, we offer attractive group discounts based on how many people travel. In a group of 9 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for a 50% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour. In a group of 16 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for 100% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour.

Share a Room and Save!

When travelling alone, we understand that some clients do not want to incur the expense of an additional single room supplement. With this in mind, on the majority of our itineraries, Trafalgar offers you the opportunity to purchase these tours on a room-sharing basis. We will accommodate you with a fellow passenger of the same gender on a ‘two-bedded’ basis (non-smoking rooms only). Please note that, regrettably, we cannot guarantee that room mates will be of a similar age group. Even so, it is an enjoyable way to travel and get to make new friends, and a positive way to stretch your holiday budget. If we fail to match you, we will provide a single room at no extra cost.
